Besides it helps to proper synthesis & excretion of bile; storage of vitamins & minerals; excretion of toxins, drugs & some hormones etc. Hepatoprotective foods & herbs help to boost liver functions; on the other hand, liver damaging foods & herbs destroy liver texture, function & activities. Heart tonic food & herbs

 

Heart is an important vital organ in our body. Its main function is to maintain blood circulation. Blood circulation is a process by which oxygen & nutrition reach into body tissues, and Carbon-di-oxide & waste products carried to appropriate organs for excretion. So, it is very important to keep our heart healthy.

 


Some foods & herbs are essential to keep our heart healthy. These foods give strength to the heart muscle. So that it helps to maintain blood circulation & proper functioning of heart.

 

Besides, some herbs are harmful for heart. These herbs promote parasympathetic activities, slows down the pumping activity of heart. These herbs lead to develop heart diseases, heart attack & death.

 

So, it is very important to know which herbs are good for heart & which are harmful for herbs. Now I will discuss about it.

 

Heart tonic foods

8.     Nicotine, opium, drug, alcohol etc.

 

Heart injurious herbs

1.     Turmeric (Curcuma longa)



Though it’s a very useful herbs, but it is harmful for heart. The chemical constitutes of turmeric slows down pumping activities of heart that causes bradycardia (Slow heart rate); thus, increase the chances of heart attack & death. It’s mainly harmful for that people who has slow heart rate & pulse, low blood pressure, arrythmia, anaemia, heart block, coronary heart disease etc. People with normal heart rate & blood pressure can eat turmeric without hesitation. People who have high blood pressure or high cholesterol level in blood can take turmeric with normal dose (Up to 1 tea spoon (2-3 gm) dried powder per day)

 

2.     Ginseng (Panax ginseng)



3.     Scammony (Convolvulus scammonia)



4.     Greater galangal (Alpinia galanga)



5.     Indian pennywort (Centella asiatica)

This herb is harmful only those patients who has pre-existing heart disease.


6.     Potassium nitrate.
